The Complete History of BEO, the AOD, and of BEOville, and the =AOD=, in that order - which is how they occurred.
This is an attempt to tell new or unknowing players how one thing led to another and eventually
ended up here.
2001
I heard of a game called RTCW and looked for a demo immediately. I found one and
within a few days both me Stryder and I were playing it daily. Back then he was Aunt Helga
and I was BEOWULF. The only map was beach, same as et_beach now. When the store
version was released we both bought it and would play for hours almost every night on a good
beach or marketgarden server usually. My video card blew his away as I had a 16 mb and he
only had an 8 mb. So he got to play on a screen the size of an index card while I got to play on
one the size of a Birthday card. PWNED! Eventually we both built our own pc :) I shortened
BEOWULF to BEO, just easier and more unique.
2003
Enemy Territory Released! I fell in love with it immediately! Styder said it blows. We both
played it though and he came to like it as much as myself.
12/2003
There was a guy working with me who never played anything but console racing and wrestling
games. At least 100 times he had told me and Stryder both how he hated FPS games but
we finally coaxed him into buying RTCW and Ultra-C was born (as far as ET is concerned anyway).
2004
By now all three of us were playing online, various servers that we would plan to meet at each day.
Somewhere we decided to have our own clan, the name Alliance of Defiance was agreed upon.
We still pubbed here and there until tensions arose over which server to play at. The clan almost
almost unraveled with the first 3 members.
5/2004
To save the clan I started the first AOD Triple XP Points server, it worked.Raven Fire joined.
With some minor tweaks the server ran with the same settings for two years until it's close last week
10/2004
What can I say? what I founded became stale to me. AODTXP was good but I knew All Generals
could be better. I wanted a server that I could pop in at anytime play 20 minutes and not have to
worry about building XP. Also I wanted alot of maps not just 6.
BEOville was born.
10/2005
For a few months I had been an official AOD server, Ultra then informed me that 90 percent of the AOD thought BEOville sucked. I went back to just plain old BEOville. :)
11/2005
With more and more AOD coming to my server I thought it was time to form my own brand of AOD.
Thus the =AOD= Orange Wing members were formed. All members have the same wings none
above the other, believe me this caused a riff with AODTXP players as they thought I wasn't stringent
enough with my application process. Their view was that if you kiss their ass long enough or send
money you get in. Mine instead is get 10000 XP and not be banned before doing so. Simple yet
effective, I end up with players not chatters. :)
06/06
The ET server that had become a Soap Opera, AODTXP goes off the air, Ultra got sick of it for reasons
I understand.
07/06
AOD is now located here at BEOville.com and at our server, =AOD= All Generals Infinite XP. Im glad to
have you aboard :)
09/06
A new mod is installed: "NoQuarter". A new server name is adopted to reflect the change, AOD 5 Star Generals
10/06
To complete the clans movement towards one unified body, the original clan tag is adopted as the official one: AOD
- Beo
03/08
Due to duties of life & Family & the retirement from active leadership duties of our Long time Clan Leader and founding father Beo, the Beoville AOD 5 Star Generals Server became the AOD Bar & Grill of the Clan, destined to remain as is, running 24 all time favorite maps with no further map or mod updates to be forthcoming. The Beoville AOD 5 Star Generals Server still remains the clans Flagship and is not expected to close, remaining open to the clan & to the public as long as donations to keep running it are still made to the host. To satisfy the requests for new maps, three clan members, APTPupil, A7X & Scarecrow open a new server, AOD Ultimate XP Save which now becomes the official AODClan Server as per Beo's wishes. The AOD Ultimate XP Save Server, also running the no quarter mod and still incorporating many of Beo's original vsays, opens for business and we look forward to some happy Fragging on both the New and the Old Servers for many years yet to come
04/08
The end of an era. Beoville AOD 5 Star Generals Server closes down and merges with AOD Ultimate XP Save and all 5SG XP is transferred over to UXS. Running new maps and new admin commands combined with Beo's config = one kick ass ET server. Beo opens a new incarnation of 5SG called Beoville 3 Star Generals running ETPub & stock maps. The server is to be used both as a proving ground for new players and for those who wish to enjoy the glory days of the original ET. |
